



Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Province
4 hours to Johannesburg / Pretoria
This route will take approximately 4.5 - 5 hours.
• Drive down Madikwe Hills access to the T-junction at the Madikwe Hills sign board and turn right.
• Continue with this road past Etali and Ukuthula and keep going until you reach a major T-junction with a sign board.
• Follow the Abjaterskop signs and turn right.
• A short distance you will find another sign board on your right indicating Molori and Madikwe Safari lodge left.
• Continue on straight towards Abjaterskop gate.
• You will arrive at a four way crossing with a sign board on the left (5.2km). Keep going straight towards Abjaterskop gate.
• Continue straight for 10.6km until you find another sign board on your right. Keep following Abjaterskop gate.
• After 1.3km another sign board on your right. Keep straight to Abjaterskop gate.
• Next sign board is 2km on on your left. Turn right to abjaterskop gate.
• Continue straight on until you arrive at the gate.
• When you exit the gate turn left onto the tar road towards Zeerust (83km).
• In Zeerust continue up until the main street (Kerk street). Follow the signs and turn left towards Swartruggens (N4).
• When on the N4 continue all the way through Swartruggens and past Rustenburg towards Pretoria.
• Just past the fourth toll gate follow the signs that say Pretoria N1. Don't turn left to Polokwane but keep straight and the highway will automatically take you right around to join the N1 to Pretoria.
• Keep going for 22 km from here until you find the R21 off ramp (Kempton park/OR Tambo international). Take the slipway to the left and keep left until you are on the R21 (Kempton park/OR Tambo international). Continue for 37km until you find the off ramp going to the airport.
This route normally takes 4 hours to Pretoria.
The gravel road on this route makes it a little bumpy but not impassable in a sedan vehicle. This route is shorter than the route through Zeerust, but not our first recommendation, as it is partially gravel. It is advisable to fill up with fuel at the Sun Village, just after the Sun City entrance on the right as there is no fuel available inside the reserve. Take the shortest route to Sun City, otherwise follow directions below.
• Drive down Madikwe Hills access to the T-junction at the Madikwe Hills sign board and turn right.
• Continue with this road past Etali and Ukuthula and keep going until you reach a major T-junction with a sign board.
• Follow the Molatedi Gate signs and turn right.
• A short distance you will find another sign board on your right indicating Molori and Madikwe Safari lodge left.
• Continue on straight towards Molatedi gate.
• You will arrive at a four way crossing with a sign board on the left (5.2km). Keep going straight towards Molatedi gate.
• Continue straight for 10.6km until you find another sign board on your right. Turn left towards Molatedi Gate.
• After 539m you will find another T-junction with a sign board. Turn left towards Molatedi gate.
• Continue straight until you reach the gate (10km).
• When you are outside the park continue from the gate straight through Molatedi village until the gravel road becomes a tar road (don't turn of anywhere, keep straight).
• Once on the tar road continue for 26km until you reach a four way crossing (stop sign). Turn left towards Rustenburg / Sun City.
• From here continue straight through several villages for 34.8 km until you get to a t-junction.
• Turn right towards Rustenburg / Sun City.
• Continue for 8.5km towards Rustenburg until you reach a four way crossing (stop sign).
• Turn left to sun city.
• Go past Sun City entrance and continue for another 73km until you reach the N4 high way.
• Turn left onto the N4 highway (Pretoria).
• Continue on the N4 highway towards Pretoria until you pass the second toll gate (follow the signs that say Pretoria N1). Don't turn left to Polokwane but keep straight and the highway will automatically take you right around to join the N1 to Pretoria.
• Keep going for 22 km from here until you find the R21 off ramp (Kempton park/OR Tambo international). Take the slipway to the left and keep left until you are on the R21 (Kempton park/OR Tambo international). Continue for 37km until you find the off ramp going to the airport.
