Lioness Yawning

Yawning lioness

We found this lioness lying in an open clearing not to far from the road about 2 km from the lodge early one morning. She was very restless and was constantly calling very softly. We suspected that she might have some cubs in the area that she was looking for. Our patience paid off after a 30 minute wait. The young mother stood up, yawned and walked off to 3 one month old cubs that was lying in the thickets about 100 meters from where we found her. The lioness was greeted by the growls of three very hungry cubs.
