Top 7 Most Instagrammable Spots at Madikwe Hills
Whilst we fully agree that a holiday to Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge should be about soaking up the gorgeous natural surroundings and admiring the wildlife, what’s a holiday to said location without a few enviable photos of yourself to post to your Instagram grid? Your photo safari should include a full depiction of the entire experience, and we’re here to help you identify some of the most Instagrammable spots at Madikwe Hills.
The Main Walkway
The walkway connects all the buildings in camp, leading from the suites to the main dining room and bar, spa, boma, gym and reception. The backdrop to this raised platform has plenty of scenic lookout points to frame your perfect shot. Some sections are shrouded in greenery, making for the perfect forest escape photo. Pensively stare into the veld or get a shot of you walking from behind to capture the full effect of your surroundings.
The Hanging Chairs in the Central Area
Situated right beside the bar, the hanging chairs make the perfect setting for your “cocktail hour” shot. You’ll look cocooned and cosy in these beautiful suspended seats. We don’t know if there’s such a thing as an “Instagram Safari,” but there should be, right?
The Fireplace in the Central Area
With a hearth made from stacked stone and decorated with a striking photograph of gemsbok, what better spot to let everybody know that you’re spending some time off at Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge? Take this shot after a beautiful photo safari with one of our guides in the back of an open vehicle and allow the day’s wonders to settle in. That said, the entire central area is photo-ready at any time of day or night.
Naturally, your set of African safari photos won’t be complete without a picture at the bar. A favourite feature among guests (besides the perfectly mixed cocktails) are the lampshades, which resemble hanging baskets, as well as the rocks around which the bar is built. Every interior choice made aims to bring the outdoors inside so that the lodge does not hinder the natural beauty of the surrounding bush, but rather, enhances it.
The Swings on the Viewing Deck
Whoever said swings are only for children was seriously misguided. Complete your set of Instagram safari shots with a snap of you on one of our beautiful swings. This is a great one to do in pairs, especially at sunset – romantic silhouette shot anyone?
Pre-dinner drink setup
Speaking of sunsets… When guests get back from their game drive they are taken to an area right below the main deck where fires are lit and drinks served. This pre-dinner drink setup is spectacularly beautiful. The deck runs the length of the central lodge area, and is broken up by trees on slightly different levels – another great spot for your sunset selfie.
The Outdoor Bath
Guests staying in Suite 6 have dibs on a very special spot for their photo safari – the outdoor bath. Pour a glass of bubbly as you soak. You’ll be amazed at how many animals wander past – the proximity can be pretty breathtaking.
